CompuLabs is shipping a tiny XScale SBC (single-board-computer) priced at $57 in quantities of a thousand. The CM-X270W is based on an Intel PXA270 processor and multimedia accelerator, includes support for Windows CE, and can be configured to order, according to the company.

In addition to the CM-X270W, CompuLabs offers several other SBCs designed for mezzanine attachment to custom application boards through miniature high-density connectors. For example, its ARMcore GX is based on Intel's PXA255 embedded processor.

The CM-X270W offers advanced graphics capabilities, thanks to an onboard multimedia accelerator from Intel. UK custom embedded engineering and manufacturing house Anders Electronics offers bespoke graphical systems development on the CM-X270W.

CompuLabs claims the CM-X270W has a low-power design comprising multiple power domains, with an on-board switching regulator. Power consumption "in full operation" is said to be 2 Watts, even when rendering XGA (1024 x 768) or SXGA (1280 x 1024) video. During sleep mode, the board draws under 3mW, the company claims.

CompuLabs lists the features and specifications for the CM-X270W as follows:
        • Intel Xscale PXA270 clocked at 512MHz
        • Intel 2700G multimedia accelerator with 8MB dedicated frame buffer
          • resolution 1280x1024x16Bpp or 1024x768x24Bpp
