SafeNet announced plans to offer a "trusted mobile computing toolkit" that support TI's OMAP Secure-Mode processors and ARM's TrustZone technology-enabled processors on devices running Microsoft's Windows CE .NET and Windows Mobile software platforms. SafeNet says its "SafeZone" products will enable wireless phone and consumer electronics platform manufacturers to protect copyrighted content, provide...
digital rights management services, reduce fraud, and support a range of revenue-driving services including multimedia content and games.
According to SafeNet, the SafeZone Trusted Mobile Computing Toolkit will include a middleware layer that provides industry-standard APIs which bind together security-aware applications and hardware security technologies, enabling developers to leverage the enhanced security in the latest platforms while maintaining code compatibility with current implementations. Additionally, the toolkit will perform key management, digital signatures, random number generation, hashing, and encryption/decryption through standard interfaces including Microsoft CryptoAPI, Symbian CryptoAPI, RSA's PKCS #11, and the Trusted Computing Group's TSS 1.2 API.
SafeNet expects its SafeZone Trusted Mobile Computing Toolkit to become available in Q3 2004.
