The "GPS Locator" receiver (shown above) plugs directly into a laptop's USB port. An "expansion sled", sold separately, is used to connect the receiver to a Pocket PC or Smartphone.
Features of Streets & Trips 2005 with GPS Locator include:
- Plug-and-play GPS receiver
- GPS Pane -- Displays current position, speed, altitude, latitude and longitude coordinates, and the time of day. An on-screen "compass" shows direction. Current position can be centered in the map view.
- GPS Trail -- Graphically tracks where the device has been on the map, "like a modern-day trail of bread crumbs."
- Re-route from Here -- Automatically recalculates driving directions from current location to any chosen destination.
- Updated mapping data for the United States and Canada, said to include more than 5.4 million miles of local, city, and highway roads and more than 1.8 million points of interest. Free road construction updates are stored online and available for download anytime.
- Includes Pocket Streets for Pocket PC and Smartphone.
The hardware/software bundle is priced at $129 (suggested list).
