Arcom has released updated Windows CE 5.0 development kits for two of its single-board computers (SBCs) -- the Intel PXA255-based Viper, and the AMD Geode-based SBC-GX1. Both development kits come with pre-installed Windows CE 5.0 images, according to the company.

The Viper development kit (shown at right) includes the PC/104 form-factor Viper SBC equipped with 64 MB of DRAM and 32 MB of Flash memory, along with a QVGA color touchscreen display, packaged in a compact enclosure. The board's Windows CE 5.0 image occupies 21 MB of the Flash, leaving about 8 MB for the registry, configuration files, and application, according to Arcom. The kit also includes a CompactFlash Wi-Fi card to support wireless development.

The SBC-GX1 development kit (shown at left) includes the EBX form-factor SBC-GX1 SBC equipped with a 300 MHz AMD Geode GX1 processor, 256 MB of DRAM, and 16 MB of Flash. A 6.5-inch color TFT LCD with touchscreen is available as an optional add-on. The board's Windows CE 5.0 image takes up about 10.4 MB of the Flash, leaving a little over 5 MB for the registry, configuration files, and application, according to Arcom.

Both kits also include Windows Embedded Visual C++ tools.
