NCP Engineering has added Windows Mobile 5.0 device support to its mobile IPsec Virtual Private Network (VPN) client. Secure Entry CE Client is compatible with a range of VPN gateways from several manufacturers, and provides end-to-end security, even from public hotspots, according to the company.

NCP says CE Client is simple to install and operate. Configuration has been rendered virtually unnecessary due to integration with the Pocket PC Connection Manager, the company explains. The mobile user works in exactly the same manner as on an office workstation.

The software provides for automatic reconnection in the event of interruption during data transfer, either because of a network failure or because the user moves to a different access point, according to NCP. For push email services, a special connection mode ensures automatic re-establishment of the VPN tunnel to the central VPN gateway.

Additionally, CE Client supports various authentication mechanisms, such as one-time password processes (OTP tokens) and certificate-based processes like soft certificates and multimedia card, for setting up secure VPN connections to the corporate network, according to the company. It also includes an integrated, dynamic personal firewall that allows defining filter rules for specific network environments.

NCP Entry CE Client version 2.21 and NCP Enterprise CE Client version 2.11 are available now. A full 30-day evaluation version of Entry CE Client can be downloaded here.
