Certicom Corp. announced that its VPN software now supports Microsoft's Windows Mobile 2003 Software for Pocket PCs. The company says movianVPN meets the IPSec standard, providing strong security from the handheld to the corporate network.

An important new capability in this release, according to Certicom, is movianVPN's interoperability with the Cosine IPSX VPN gateway and support for the new Windows Mobile connection manager, which together enable easy connection to a variety of networks. In addition, movianVPN for Pocket PC 2003 implements a new IPSec driver design that improves speed, the company says.

According to Certicom, movianVPN's support for multiple operating systems eases IT administration by enabling a single brand of VPN software to work across multiple mobile devices. Additionally, Certicom claims that movianVPN for Pocket PC supports a range of Windows Mobile based PDAs including HP, Dell, Toshiba, and others.
