All versions of the device also come with a heater. Voice-picking and Voice-over-IP (VoIP) support is available via an optional push-to-talk handset.

Symbol says the VC5090 supports the company's Mobility Services Platform (MSP), which makes it easy for organizations to deploy, provision, track, and support their VC5090 devices worldwide, from a central location.
According to Brian Viscount, VP of product marketing for Symbol's Mobile Computing Division, "The VC5090 vehicle/fixed-mount mobile computer extends Symbol's comprehensive offering of rugged mobile computers to forklifts and other materials management vehicles."
