        Via Mark powers fanless SBC

        Axiomtek has announced a new 3.5-inch form-factor single-board computer (SBC) that employs a Via Mark CoreFusion processor and offers modular PC/104 expansion. Targeted at embedded and industrial applications, the SBC84602 features four COM ports and fanless operation, according to the company.

        The SB84602 uses the Via Mark processor along with a VT82C686B chipset. The SBC's integrated graphics capabilities are based on the S3 Graphics ProSavage4, and support dual displays, Axiomtek said.

        The system's Via Mark CoreFusion processor runs at 800 or 533 MHz. Worthy of note is the SB84602's support for ISA-bus legacy architecture.

        Specifications for the SB84602 include:
        • Processor -- Via Mark CoreFusion, clocked at 800/533 MHz
        • Memory -- 144-pin SODIMM accepts up to 512MB SDRAM
        • Storage -- PATA-100 IDE; floppy
        • Video:
          • integrated in Mark
          • supports up to 1600 x 1200 on two displays
          • supports CRT, LVDS LCD, or STN/DSTN LCD
        • Audio -- AC97 codec
        • Networking -- 10/100 Ethernet
        • Other I/O ports:
          • PS/2 keyboard/mouse
          • 4 x COM ports (3 x RS-232; 1 x RS-232/422/485)
          • printer port
          • IrDA
          • 4 x USB 1.1 ports
        • Expansion:
          • CompactFlash Type II with DMA mode
          • PC/104 stack
        • Power -- +5V or +12 VDC
        • Dimensions -- 5.75 x 4.0 (146 x 102 mm)
        • Operating temperature -- 0 to 60 deg. C
        The SBC84602 comes with an Phoenix-Award BIOS, and includes a RPL/PXE LAN boot ROM. Axiomtek did not specify what operating systems the board supports; however, the company has in the past typically supported Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, and Linux on all of its board-level products.

        Availability is scheduled for August.
