Via Technologies has proclaimed a major commitment to fully supporting Microsoft's Windows CE 5.0 embedded operating system on all of its current and future embedded products, in an effort that will include "dedicated technical compatibility and full driver support."

The company says its support for Windows CE 5.0 will encompass "ultra low power Via processor, chipset, and companion chip options on platforms offered by leading industry players, including the latest Via EPIA Mini-ITX and Nano-ITX mainboards, targeting small form-factor and mobile consumer and commercial devices."

"This relates to full support on all VIA silicon building blocks that include processors, chipsets, and peripheral chips," explained Tim Handley, Via's Processor Platform Marketing Manager. "We are currently putting together Windows CE 5.0 board support packages (BSPs) for our range of Via EPIA Mini-ITX and Nano-ITX mainboards and we will announce these in the next few weeks."

"We are committed to supporting all of our current and future embedded products under Windows CE 5.0," Handley added.
