Microsoft's Windows Mobile team has produced an online video showcasing new features in Windows Mobile 6.1. The 40-minute program demonstrates a variety of devices, along with the operating system's new home screen, task manager, threaded SMS, and other innovations.

The Windows Mobile 6.1 video was filmed in Microsoft's Building 118, "our Windows Mobile factory," in presenter Mel Sampat's words. Sampat, a program manager for Windows Mobile, is joined for the product demonstrations by Senior Development Lead Jay Ongg and Development Lead Nengwu Zhu.

"This is a long video, but it shows several features in detail that you may not see elsewhere," Sampat writes on the Windows Mobile team's blog. Content, as listed in his posting, includes:
        • "Cool devices" including the T-Mobile Shadow, AT&T Tilt, Pantech Duo, and Motorola Q9
        • The new Sliding Panel home screen (aka "Bronze")
        • New home screen plugins
        • Threaded SMS
        • Copy and paste support for non-touch devices
        • New Task Manager
        • Clock and alarms
        • Windows Live and Live Search for Windows Mobile
There are also a couple of new features not included in the video, Sampat notes. One of these is Internet Explorer Mobile's new zoom feature, and another is Windows Mobile 6.1's integration with Microsoft's System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008.
