SymPhone mobile VoIP client software.
Ecuity says that in addition to making individual calls, Smart Call's "virtual PBX" feature enables enterprise users to gain remote access to their office PBX systems through a Web interface. The remote user can then make calls to both SymPhone-enabled devices and 4-digit office extensions within the enterprise. Depending on the calling plan, Smart Call single-user or multi-user PBX features include:
- Free in-network calling
- Caller ID, call waiting, call hold and three-way calling
- Automatic call forwarding
- Incoming calls ring multiple phones or numbers
- On-screen keypad dialing, including volume control
- Dialing directly from Outlook contacts list
- Voice mail messages delivered as talking emails.
Ecuity is in the process of a phased rollout, it says. In the current initial stage, users can select a local phone number for a limited number of states and communities. By the end of August, users will be able to select numbers in more than 2,500 locations across the U.S. Additionally, users can maintain multiple phone numbers from multiple areas.
Ecuity claims that Smart Call provides call quality comparable to, or superior to, fixed phone service. The company offers a range of service plans having various features and calling rates, including worldwide calling as low as 3.9 cents per minute.
