"Virtual lab" explains Windows CE 6 build, debug

Microsoft has posted a "virtual lab" video that takes developers through the typical process of configuring, building, and debugging a Windows CE 6 operating system image. The 90-minute session also introduces the new features of Platform Builder, including the new registry editor, according to Mike Hall, the virtual lab's creator.

Microsoft says that its virtual labs, which appear on its MSDN developer website, offer users an opportunity to evaluate Microsoft software and learn how to build applications through a series of guided, hands-on labs that can each be completed in 90 minutes or less. The only installation required on the user's computer is a small Active-X control.

In addition to Windows CE, other virtual labs of interest to embedded developers include building either native or managed applications for Windows Mobile, and a whole series of labs introducing Visual Studio 2005.

The MSDN virtual labs home page is here. The Windows CE 6 lab is here.
