The company says that in addition to dialing phone numbers in the phone's address book, its "Voice Activated Phonebook" (VAP) software allows users to "digit-dial" numbers verbally by speaking the number, as well as launch applications by speaking simple commands -- resulting in hands-free, eyes-free operation. For example, a user can check appointments simply by saying, "Open Calendar". The VAP software combines interactive voice prompts along with text-to-speech (TTS), for ease-of-use and hands-free, eyes-free operation.
The i600 is based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile for Smartphone. Earlier this year, Samsung's i700 Smartphone was released with Voice Signal's VAP software installed, running on the Microsoft's Pocket PC platform.
