Spansion says it has developed a family of drivers designed to provide immediate support of the Windows CE and Windows Mobile operating systems, as well as other leading embedded operating systems. The MEDC demo shows how to identify the Spansion software component within Microsoft's Windows CE Platform Builder development environment, build the optimized software for a target using a simple drag-and-drop function, and download the software onto the target device.
In addition, the company says it has developed its own Flash file system based on M-Systems's True Flash File System (TrueFFS) and an enhanced Flash driver. The enhanced Flash driver is a "production-grade driver" with real-time operating system (RTOS) awareness for single devices, according to Spansion. The company also offers Low Level Driver (LLD) software, which it says provides a "production-grade driver toolbox" to manage command initiation and polling operations for the full range of the company's memory devices.
Spansion currently offers a broad range of single-chip NOR Flash memory devices targeted for use in the wireless and embedded markets, according to the company. The portfolio currently includes 5-, 3-, and 1.8-volt products up to 64 megabytes capacity, in single-die and multi-chip product configurations.
