MWG has added to its range of Windows Mobile 6 Professional phones with a new model that can tag pictures with GPS coordinates. The Atom V has a 2-megapixel camera, 2.8-inch touchscreen display, 802.11b/g wireless networking, Bluetooth, and an FM radio.

Like MWG's earlier Zinc II, the Atom V uses the SiRF starIII chipset. Software included with the device provides not only the usual GPS mapping functionality, but also "geotagging" of photos with the GPS coordinates of where they were taken. The phone's two megapixel camera also includes autofocus, a macro mode, and LED flash.

The Atom V has a bevy of other wireless functionality, such as an FM radio that provides RDS (radio data system) information. There's also Bluetooth 2.0, and 802.11b/g local area networking. Telephony features include quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and 2100MHz WCDMA/UMTS radios. The phone's HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) capabilities support downloads at up to 7.2Mbps, MWG says.

The device has a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, plus a Marvell PXA270 processor clocked at 520MHz. It is equipped with 64MB of RAM and 256MB of flash storage, the latter expandable by up to 8GB via a microSD expansion slot.

In addition to the FM radio already mentioned, other multimedia frills on the Atom V include stereo speakers, a 2.5mm audio jack, and a Windows Media Player 10 player that supports MIDI, MP3, WMA, WMV, and AAC formats.

Of course, the Atom V also includes all the other applications that are part of Windows Mobile 6.0, including mobile editions of Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and PowerPoint. MWG has also added a proprietary Quick Menu utility, said to make applications easier to launch.
