Samsung and LG Telecom of Korea have announced a Windows Mobile 6-based smartphone whose touchscreen provides feedback via "haptic" technology. The SPH-M4650 also receives T-DMB (terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting) television broadcasts, according to the company.

The SPH-M4650's haptic technology is said to give users tactile feedback by vibrating as they touch icons on the 2.8-inch display. Another unusual feature of the device, Samsung says, is iPhone-like full screen Web browsing, whereby users see an entire, miniaturized Web page initially and can then zoom in for reading.

The phone also has the standard mobile Internet Explorer browser, along with the other software that is part of the Korean edition of Windows Mobile 6 Professional. This includes push email, Pocket Office, Windows Media Player 10, Microsoft Reader, an English dictionary, and more, according to Samsung.

The SPH-M4650 uses Marvell's PXA300 processor, clocked at 624 MHz. The device comes with 256 MB of RAM and an unspecified amount of flash storage.

The phone also employs the Qualcomm MSM6500 chipset. This is said to incorporate licensed Windows Media Audio and Video codecs and supports the phone's CDMA2000 1x EV-DO cellular functionality.
