The 503G features a front-mounted QWERTY or AZERTY keyboard with 39 keys. Though this layout seems to be dying out in favor of slider designs, it has the undeniable advantage of keeping the keyboard available at all times. The phone's 2.4-inch touchscreen display has 76,800 pixels in a VGA (320 x 240) grid.

Wireless capabilities include quad-band GSM (850, 900, 1800, and 1900MHz) and tri-band WCDMA/UMTS (850, 1900, and 2100MHz). Via HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access), the 503G supports downloads at up to 3.6Mbps, MWG claims. The device also includes both stereo Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11b/g wireless networking.

The 503G uses a 520MHz Marvell PXA270 processor, along with a Qualcomm MSM6280 baseband processor. It features the somewhat unusual memory complement of 96MB RAM and 192MB flash, and additionally supports microSD cards up to 2GB in capacity.

Finally, the phone is decked out with dual cameras. Its main camera is a two-megapixel unit with autofocus, while the user-facing unit is a VGA-resolution camera for videoconferencing. MWG says the 503G can do 75 minutes of video calling before its battery dies.
