The Moto Q 9, running Windows Mobile 6, couples a "sleek" form-factor with support for HSDPA/UMTS wireless broadband downloads at up to 3.6Mbps, according to the company.

According to Bruce Hawver, Motorola's Corporate Vice President of Enterprise Devices, the Q 9 "was developed as a multi-purpose communication device that is easy to use and doesn't compromise on experiences." Touting the Q 9 as "more than just a device," the company claims it to be a statement of "power and personality," citing such features as its multi-format messaging capability, wireless download speed, processing power, ergonomic design, capacity to store music and videos (up to 2GB), its integrated camera, bright LCD screen, and slim design.

In addition to its Windows Mobile 6 operating system, the Moto Q 9 includes an Opera browser, support for viewing and editing email attachments, voice recognition, file management, VPN, and anti-virus protection. The device supports four forms of messaging, including MMS, SMS, instant messaging, and Windows Pocket Outlook email.
The Moto Q 9 ships this week in Italy, and is expected to become available in other markets during Q2 of 2007, Motorola said. Pricing was not officially stated, but one source suggests that the device will sell for about $700.
