        Windows Mobile PDA targets education

        Data Evolution Corp. is entering the handheld PDA market with a rugged, full VGA-resolution device aimed at "demanding enterprise and education users."         Touted E3 features and specifications include:
        • Processor -- 520 MHz PXA270
        • Memory -- 64 MB RAM, 512 MB flash
        • Display -- 3.5-inch VGA TFT LCD
        • I/O ports:
          • USB Host/Client
          • IrDA 1.2
          • audio -- integrated speaker and microphone, headphone jack
        • Expansion -- mini-SD slot
        • Camera -- 1.3 Mpixal with video recording capability
        • Wireless:
          • 802.11b/g WiFi
          • Bluetooth
          • GPS
          • GSM telephone module (optional)
        • Dimensions -- 2.9 x 5.3 x 0.75 inches (73 x 135 x 19 mm)
        Data Evolution recently released the Cathena CX, an "aggressively priced" UMPC-like device with a unique, swiveling display. Earlier in the year, the company acquired the assets of AMD's low-cost Personal Internet Communicator (PIC) and renamed it the decTOP. That device is now selling for $99, without an OS, on the company's website.

        Price and availability of the VGA E3 were not disclosed.
