        Windows Mobile app contest offers four $25,000 grand prizes

        Microsoft has kicked off its first "Mobile2Market Application Contest" for Windows Mobile applications. Microsoft is inviting developers to submit their "best" applications for Windows Mobile based Pocket PCs and Smartphones to the contest, for a chance to win one of four $25,000 grand prizes plus distribution of their application.

        In addition, 20 contest "finalists" will receive featured promotions.

        The four categories to be judged are:
        • Pocket PC "Work" applications
        • Pocket PC "Play" applications
        • Smartphone "Work" applications
        • Smartphone "Play" applications
        All applications must be submitted to a Mobile2Market testing partner by June 30, 2004, and then certified and published in the Mobile2Market Mobile Application Catalog to be eligible to win. Additionally, the first 150 entrants to submit their apps before May 30, 2004 will receive free logo-testing (said to be worth $500).
