Jgui has introduced a Pocket PC program that keeps track of position data in real-time. GPS.PI exchanges geographical position data by SMS or email using GPRS, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi, according to the company. "Follow your friends, children, cars, dogs... whatever you want," says Jgui.

Jgui says GPS.PI can independently track up to 10 "friends" and display up to 100 points per friend. The program can display the direction and speed of both the user and connected friends, and the distance between them, the company adds.

GPS PI works with virtually any map image in .bmp, .jpg, or .png image formats, and in portrait, landscape, or square orientations, according to the company. Maps can be zoomed and panned, and can be centered either on the user or on a designated friend. Map images must first be "calibrated" by specifying the geographic coordinates of three points on the map.

The software works with or without a connected GPS receiver. In the absence of a connected GPS receiver, geographic coordinates can be manually entered into an SMS or email.

GPS.PI is compatible with devices running Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition and Windows Mobile 2003. It is available from Handango, Pocket PC Gear, and ShareIt.
