Laplink has released what it calls "the next generation in remote PC access." Laplink Everywhere 4 provides secure remote access to PCs from any web-enabled computer, including Windows Mobile smartphones and PDAs, and is the first and only remote access package to integrate Google Desktop Search, according to the company.

Laplink says that Google Desktop Search allows users to easily and quickly locate files and emails on a distant PC and then:
        • View, respond to, or forward emails without launching the email client on the local device
        • Open, save or transfer files to the local computer from the remote PC
        • Send a file of any size or type by emailing a secure web link. Recipients simply click the link for a fast, direct, "bandwidth-friendly" download.
Laplink Everywhere 4 supports PDAs and Smartphones running Windows Mobile, Pocket PC, and Windows CE, among other platforms, according to the company. It uses 128-bit SSL encryption and works securely through firewalls and routers without requiring any special configuration.

Laplink Everywhere is a subscription service starting at about $9 per month or $45 per year. A 15-day free trial version is available here.
