A new blog posting by Windows Embedded software architect Mike Hall reveals that Microsoft Robotics Studio can allow a robot (left) to be controlled by a Windows Mobile phone. According to instructions provided by Olivier Bloch, the connection between phone and robot is made via Bluetooth.

Bloch (right), a Microsoft embedded developer evangelist based in France, writes that the process seems complicated, but actually was not that much so. The steps, detailed in a screencast on MSDN's Channel 9, are as follows:
        • Create a simple service with Visual Studio 2005
        • Use Microsoft Visual Programming Language to create the application
        • Generate the Compact Framework project
        • Deploy on Windows Mobile
        • Drive robot!

The robot used in the project is Parallax's Boe-Bot (shown at right), according to Bloch. This small rolling robot is sold in kit form for $150, making the project very affordable.
