        Windows XP Embedded powers cinema ticketing kiosks

        be used virtually anywhere -- including the gathering area outside a theater's lobby, as well as mall entrances and sidewalks leading from the parking lot.

        Radiant says it developed the Outdoor Ticketing Kiosk in response to the desire of cinema operators to enhance their theaters' revenue opportunities and to improve customer service by eliminating frustrating lines.

        The system's embedded computer is based on an EmbeddedATX form-factor motherboard fitted with a a 400MHz (or faster) Intel Pentium M or Celeron M processor and 128MB SDRAM (expandable to 256MB) and 128MB of CompactFlash solid-state mass storage, running Microsoft's Windows XP Embedded software platform. The display is a 15.1-inch SVGA (1024 x 768 pixel) high-brightness active matrix LCD panel with touchscreen. Other key features include 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, 6 serial ports, 2 USB Host ports, 2.5W speaker, a built-in magnetic stripe reader with optional PIN pad, and an anti-vandalism sensor. Additional available options include a fan-fold printer, a monitoring camera, and various customizations.
