Windows XP Embedded team solicits inputs

In a recent blog post, Windows XP Embedded tester Lynda Allen noted that the embedded team periodically gets requests from customers to add new configuration options to the component database "so that more settings can be tweaked or set offline," for example in Target Designer.

In her blog post, Allen poses the following question to all XPe developers: "What feature settings would you like to be able to set in Target Designer, that you currently cannot set, so that you do not have to worry about them after FBA?" FBA stands for "First Boot Agent," which is essentially the Windows XP Embedded equivalent of Windows XP setup; it performs runtime tasks such as PNP enumeration and DLL/COM registration on the target system.

Options that can't be configured from the component database often must be handled at runtime after FBA, according to Allen. This can have the effect of slowing down the boot up of a device.
