        Windows XP Embedded thin client bolts to monitor

        Computer Lab International (CLI) has added a Windows XP Embedded thin client to its product line. The compact (5.4 x 7.8 x 2.0 in.) MT1500x can be wall-mounted or attached directly to a VESA-compliant monitor, according to the company.

        The MT1500x is based on the same platform as the previously announced MT1500g and MT1550g, which run Windows CE 5.0. CLI lists the following hardware specifications for the device:
        • Processor -- AMD Geode GX 466
        • Memory:
          • RAM -- 256MB minimum, expandable to 512MB
          • Flash -- 256MB minimum, expandable to 1GB
        • Display:
          • Resolution up to 1600x1200
          • Up to 24-bit (16M) colors
          • Up to 85 Hz flicker free refresh rate
        • Audio -- Full 16 bit stereo FM synthesis, stereo line-out, 8-bit mini microphone line-in
        • I/O Ports:
          • 10/100 autosensing BaseT Ethernet, RJ-45 connector, Wake-On-LAN
          • 4 Type A USB
          • 2 serial DB-9 RS-232C up to 115.2K baud
          • PS/2 keyboard and mouse
          • Parallel DB-25 Centronics
        • Dimensions -- 5.4 x 7.8 x 2.0 inches (137 x 198 x 51 mm)
        • Weight -- 1.4 lb

        CLI lists the following software features of the MT1500x:
        • Windows XP Embedded SP1 embedded operating system
        • Microsoft RDP and Citrix ICA protocol for accessing Windows applications
        • Multiple terminal emulations to access mainframe, midrange UNIX and other legacy applications.
        • Internet Explorer browser to access Web-based applications, with Windows Media Player for multimedia and Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
        • Support for Windows XP Professional device drivers and many third-party device drivers
        • CLI SNMP Administrator software, bundled with the unit, for seamless, centralized management, and complete control of all CLI desktops
        The MT1500x includes a keyboard, mouse, and three-year warranty as standard features. Various options are available, including monitor, keyboard, and warranty upgrades, according to the company.
