Motion Computing's latest tablet computer leverages Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 2 to enhance its already impressive security features. The LE1600TC thin-client tablet includes a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for hardware-protected encryption, as well as secure digital certificate storage for authentication...

The LE1600TC runs Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 2 (XPe SP2) and comes loaded with Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), Citrix CA Client and Microsoft Internet Explorer with the Sun Microsystems Java Runtime Environment, and EverNote Corp.'s ritePen 2.5 handwriting recognition software, according to the company.

The device features a 1 GHz Intel Celeron M ultra-low-voltage (ULV) microprocessor, a 12.1-inch wide-angle 1024 x 768 pixel LCD touchscreen, 256 MB of SDRAM memory, PC 97 audio codec, PC Card (PCMCIA) slot, and advanced battery management capabilities. Integrated Bluetooth radio is available as an option.

For storage, the LE1600TC thin-client tablet contains a 512 MB flash memory drive, rather than the hard drive of its LE1600 sibling.

The device measures 11.65 x 9.45 x 0.74-0.87 inches. It weighs 3.13 lbs. with its standard battery, or 4.19 lbs. with an optional extended battery.

Pricing for the LE1600TC starts at $1,899, and the tablet computer is shipping now.
