TenAsys has incorporated a new USB host stack option into its real-time performance extension for Windows XP and Windows XP Embedded (XPe). Based on Jungo's USBware, the stack is claimed to allow real-time applications to utilize USB I/O independently of Windows, "for increased reliability and determinism."

The INtime real-time system and Jungo USB host stack are said to include support for all three standard USB host controller interfaces: OHCI, UHCI, and EHCI. Based on the new support, INtime real-time applications can access USB peripherals directly via USB 1.1 and 2.0 interfaces, according to TenAsys.

INTime lets real-time applications run concurrently with Windows XP Embedded

Developers can now implement custom USB drivers utilizing Jungo's standard USB APIs from any INtime-based application, the companies said in a statement. INtime includes sample drivers for multi-channel serial, general-purpose digital and analog I/O, and other devices.

The new version of INtime is available now, but pricing was not disclosed. A demonstration version is downloadable here; note, however, that this does not include the USB host stack.
