AVerMedia Technologies has won a CES 2007 Innovations Design and Engineering award for a surveillance DVR powered by Windows XP Embedded. The AVerDigi SA6416 Standalone Surveillance DVR offers a wide range of advanced video recording, playback, backup, search and editing features, according to the company.

The SA6416 accepts up to 16 composite video analog or IP camera inputs, as well as eight audio inputs, according to AVerMedia. Control of PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) cameras is supported, and the device has three removable SATA hard drive bays for up to 1.2 terabytes of on-line storage, plus a DVD-RW drive for archival storage.

AVerMedia lists the following video and recording features for the SA6416:
        • MPEG4 video compression
        • Adjustable frame rate and resolution on each camera
        • Resolutions -- 320x240, 640x240, 720x480
        • Recording modes:
          • alarm triggered
          • sensor triggered
          • motion detection
          • continuous
          • scheduled
          • voice activation
        • Video encryption -- scramble video channels for remote access
        • Watermark image verification
AVerMedia says the SA6416 supports browser-based remote monitoring, recording, playback, and retrieval over a LAN or the Internet. A central monitoring software application is available that allows monitoring multiple SA6416s from a single computer with up to four LCD displays.

The SA6416, which garnered its CES 2007 Innovations Design and Engineering award in the Integrated Home Systems/Security category, will be on display in the Innovations Showcase at the 2007 International CES, Jan. 8 to 11, 2007, in Las Vegas, according to AVerMedia.
