O2 announced an unusual Windows Mobile 6.1 phone featuring a 5-inch VGA display and a detachable QWERTY keyboard. The XDA Flint has 16GB of flash storage, GGSM/GPRS/EDGE telephony, WiFi, Bluetooth, dual cameras, video output, and an ATI graphics chip that "significantly accelerates performance,"...

        says O2.

Though not proclaimed as such, the XDA Flint appears to be a version of HTC's Advantage X7510. This interesting device, which has not previously been rebranded by any carrier we're aware of, has a 4.5 x 3.9 x 0.6 form factor that practically takes it into MID (mobile internet device) or UMPC (ultra mobile PC) territory.

In addition to a five-inch VGA display, the Flint has a removable keyboard that adds 0.2 inches to its thickness. The keyboard docks to the main body of the phone magnetically, and has a small cable that must be plugged into a keyboard connector, according to O2.

Rivaling devices such as Samsung's Omnia, the XDA Flint comes with an impressive 16GB of flash storage. It also includes a 624MHz Marvell PXA270 processor, 128MB of RAM, and a miniSD slot, says O2.

According to O2, the XDA Flint's touchscreen display is driven by an ATI Imageon W2284 graphics controller that supports TV out. A supplied cable connects to a proprietary 18-pin interface on the phone and provides the following ports:
        • USB 1.1 host
        • VGA output
        • S-Video output
        • Composite video output
The XDA Flint features GPS, reportedly provided by a SiRF starIII chipset. Meantime, Qualcomm's MSM6275 baseband processor gives the phone quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE cellular capabilities. WiFi and stereo Bluetooth are also included, according to O2.

The XDA Flint has dual cameras: a three-megapixel unit with autofocus and LED flash, and a VGA-resolution unit for videoconferencing. Other multimedia features include dual speakers, plus a 3.5mm audio jack that's said to allow connection of either headphones or a microphone.

Finally, O2 touts the XDA Flint's "finger scrolling and panning" capabilities, but the Windows Mobile 6.1 device does not appear to have HTC's full TouchFLO user interface. However, it is said to ship with dual web browsers, Microsoft's Internet Explorer Mobile and Opera Software's Opera Mobile 9.5.

Key features and specs of the XDA Flint, according to O2, include:
