Reddline Systems announced that it has added VoIP services to its thin client "voice and information terminal," which also offers streaming video, audio, and Web access, and is designed for use with a standard analog telephone handset.

Reddline says its Ranger V6 Quad/Player enables users to make telephone calls over the Internet while browsing the Web using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

The 13 x 8 x 2 in. device is based on Intel's Celeron LV processor (733MHz to 1GHz clock rate) and runs Microsoft's Windows CE operating system. Interfaces are provided for SVGA (1600x1280 pixel) and TV video (with optional LCD connector), dual-Ethernet, USB, serial, parallel, IDE drive, keyboard, mouse, remote control, and high-end audio, with options of 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth wireless. The unit can be upgraded through the use of internal miniPCI plug-in modules, or via the external USB port.

Reddline says the Ranger V6 Quad/Player supports TCP/IP with DNS and DHCP, PPP, PPPOE, and SNMP network protocols. VoIP communications capabilities include SIP, today, with H-323 and MGCP under development. Voice recognition, instant messaging, and MPEG and MP-3 player features are also included.
