The CV60 is based on an Intel P-III Ultra Low Power 800MHz processor and offers a choice of Microsoft's Windows CE, XP, or XP Embedded operating systems. The device is packaged in a lightweight, rugged, cast magnesium housing and includes a bright, 12.1-inch, SVGA TFT color LCD display with touchscreen.
The use of Microsoft's .NET Compact Framework enables CV60 users to share applications across devices, Intermec said. Additionally, the device was designed to be compatible with Microsoft's Visual C++, Visual C#, and Visual Basic .NET development tools, and it also supports Java and HTML, Intermec said.
"Intermecs rugged vehicle mount terminal CV60 brings all the utilities and resources available through the .NET Compact Framework to users in extreme environments," noted Jonathan Wells, product manager for the Developer and Platform Evangelism Division at Microsoft.
Intermec said the CV60 is fitted with a vibration and shock dampening system to protec rotating magnetic media drives, and also offers solid state storage use in extreme temperature applications. Another key feature of the is its ability to avoid inadvertent shutdowns and power loss, common to material handling vehicles, via an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
