Released in conjunction with the CTIA Wireless 2008 show underway now in Las Vegas, the survey reported that wireless data service revenues for 2007 rose to more than $23 billion, a 53 percent increase over 2006, representing about 17 percent of all wireless service revenues.
Other stats listed in the survey results include:
- Over 48 billion messages were sent in December 2007, representing 1.6 billion messages per day, an increase of 157 percent over December 2006.
- Almost four billion MMS messages were sent during the second half of 2007, compared with 2.7 billion for all of 2006.
- Two trillion wireless minutes were used in 2007, up nearly 18 percent over 2006.
