        World's smallest Smartphone?

        At the World Handset Forum held recently in Amsterdam, Orange announced what it claims is the "world's smallest Smartphone." The SPV C500, the newest member of Orange's "Signature family" of Smartphones, measures just 4.25 x 1.8 x .63 in.


        (108 x 46 x 16 mm), weighs in at a mere 3.5 oz. (100 gm), and runs Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.

        According to Orange, the SPV C500 will give users a unique "Orange experience" on their phones, including a new "home" screen that offers instant access to key services such as . . .
        • Orange Backup -- allows users to store personal and business data on the Orange network and retrieve it later
        • Packet Video player -- progressive download service for smoother access to video content
        • Orange Update -- allows users to download new applications such as ringtones, maps, and games
        The SPV C500 will also come with an Orange "Try" card - a mini memory card that can be inserted into the phone allowing users to sample new applications for free and then purchase them directly through Orange.

        The SPV C500 is expected to be available in the UK, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, and Slovakia this Summer.
