        World's weirdest mobile PC?

        Samsung unveiled its latest mobile convergence device at the Mobile WiMAX Summit 2006 in Seoul, today. The SPH-P9000 runs Windows XP, supports voice and multimedia data communications using Mobile WiMAX and CDMA EV-DO technology, and sports a fold-up full QWERTY keyboard, according to the company.

        The SPH-P9000 is powered by a 1 GHz Transmeta CPU, and packs a 30 GB hard drive. The device features a 5-inch WVGA LCD screen, Bluetooth Class 1 wireless, and a 1.3 Mpixel digital camera. Folded up, the device measures 5.6 x 3.6 x 1.2 inches (143 x 92 x 30 mm).

        Kitae Lee, President of Samsung's Telecommunication Network Business, stated, "Our new SPH-P9000 is just one of the few Mobile WiMAX convergence devices to be introduced to the world. Samsung will expand our portfolio of mobile convergence devices, as we expect to expand our global Mobile WiMAX services globally."

        Samsung says it expects to launch the SPH-P9000 in Korea in the first half of next year.
