XP Embedded gains instant-on support

Venturcom has announced a software package that enables Windows XP Embedded based embedded systems and devices to instantly power up to a predetermined state and configuration, regardless of the system's condition when powered off. Venturcom says ReadyOn addresses a growing demand for instant-on operation and protection of the operating environment and application from end-user corruption.
ReadyOn is especially useful in applications requiring high reliability and unlimited power cycling such as medical instruments, consumer electronics, and retail point-of-sale (POS) terminals, the company says.
