        XP Embedded powered game console plays PC games

        Digital Interactive Systems Corp. (DISC) previewed a new PC game console based on Windows XP Embedded at the recent COMDEX show in Las Vegas, and announced plans for a formal unveiling of the device at the upcoming CES show in January 2004.




        DISC says its new DISCover game console will compete in the video game console market by providing access to the platform with largest selection of games -- the PC platform. The console plays standard PC games, displaying them on a TV set or other monitor. It is based on PC components and runs Microsoft's Windows XP Embedded operating system, and will be offered in two versions: an entry level model, and a high-end model for the serious gamer.

        Entry-level DISCover console features:
        • 1 GHz Pentium-class processor
        • 256MB RAM
        • Integrated 3D accelerator
        • 40GB hard drive
        Higher-end DISCover console features:
        • Pentium 4 3.06 GHz
        • 1 GB of RAM
        • 120 GB hard drive
        • 3D audio capability with Dolby Digital 6.1 Surround Sound
        • nVIDIA GeForce 4 TI Graphics
        • TV out onto a standard resolution TV using AV (composite) or S-Video
        • True HDTV component out
        • DVD player
        • MP3 player
