(Click here for larger image)The M@CX family currently includes four devices, with screen sizes ranging from 6.4 inches to 12.1 inches. All four are based on a 400MHz Intel PXA255 processor, have up to 128MB of RAM and 128MB of built-in Flash memory, include Ethernet and other expansion ports, provide an optional CAN bus interface, and can be expanded with up to 1GB of CompactFlash.
According to Kontron, applying the thin client paradigm to HMI (Human Machine Interface) reduces maintenance costs while enhancing scalability. All applications run on a central server with only visualization and user input running on the client. Applications can be maintained and upgraded from a central location, which also contributes to improved security.
