Resco has released a .NET native class library that allows developers to create and manage industry standard zip files and compress .NET streams on mobile devices. Resco Zip .NET is "100 percent managed code" and is optimized for for Visual Studio .NET, according to the company.

Visual Studio .NET is rapidly gaining popularity among mobile application developers, notes Resco. Zip .NET helps overcome the memory limitations of current mobile devices such as Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and Smartphones, according to the company.

Resco says its .NET class library provides developers with a full range of compression operations including compressing and decompressing files, folders, and .NET streams, and encryption for data security. The package comes with comprehensive help integrated into the Visual Studio .NET environment along with several programming examples in Visual Basic and C#.

"Even though our company has provided Zip compression functionality for mobile devices for over 5 years now, recently we have noticed among the developers an extraordinary demand for a library that is easy to use when writing .NET applications," explained Peter Sartoris, product manager of Resco Enterprise Solutions.

Resco Zip .NET is available in two versions -- a "standard" edition for around $200, and a "professional" version for $400. A free trial download is available here. A Beta version for VS 2005 Beta 2 and .NET CF 2.0 is available here.
