Elanza calls its Windows CE based Webpad an "incremental mobile device in the enterprise, complementing laptop PCs, Pocket PCs and Smart Phones rather than replacing them." The slate-style tablet is built around a 10.4 inch, 800x600 resolution LCD screen with a resistive touch pad. Wireless options include 802.11b, Bluetooth and, infrared.

Elanza's Webpad is intended primarily for "non-traditional office environments" where workers are often on the move in the course of their job. The device fits best in scenarios in which a manual paper-based process could be made more efficient by converting it to an electronic forms-based application that enables rapid data capture on a screen big enough to keep the data in context, the company says.

Insurance adjusters, real estate agents, and in-home healthcare providers are some examples of users that can benefit from tablet technology, according to Elanza. A whitepaper is available, which details typical applications for the device.
