        Device Profile: HP Compaq TC1000 tablet PC

        HP claims the Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC brings portable computing to a new level of convenience. About the size of a standard sheet of paper, less than one-inch thick and weighing only three pounds, the unit has the capabilities of a full-function desktop PC, with the added benefit of unmatched versatility.


        The device runs Windows XP Tablet PC Edition on a Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 1.0 GHz processor.

        HP says the TC1000 can function as a tablet, using a digital pen to capture, store, and retrieve handwritten documents in their original form, or with its own detachable keyboard and built-in mouse. Additionally, an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor can also be attached to configure the unit for normal desktop use.
