Device Profile: Iris P-Series programmable smart cameras
2004-05-13
The Matrox Iris P-Series combines a conventional smart video camera with the flexibility of a traditional PC-based machine vision system. Matrox says the P-Series cameras are fully programmable, enabling extensive customization by OEMs and integrators for their individual vertical markets.
Based on an Ultra Low Power (ULP) Intel Celeron processor running Windows CE .NET, the P-Series has the computing power to deliver the performance and robustness necessary for mission-critical machine vision applications, according to Matrox. The company also claims that the familiar Windows CE cross-platform programming environment minimizes the learning curve and maximizes development flexibility, while the Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) programming toolkit provides the image processing and analysis tools that enable OEMs and integrators to get the job done quickly and with confidence. The camera includes a built-in webserver which is used for configuration and monitoring access. This web based interface allows a user with the appropriate privileges to view status information such as network interface, Flash disk/memory usage, temperatures, event logs, etc., and configure operational parameters such as boot process, network interface, applications to run, firmware revisions, and so on. It also enables an operator to remotely view live video for camera alignment and focusing. ![]() Configuration Web Page (Click above image to enlarge) Key features and specifications include:
