The Winterm 3150SE is a new model in Wyse's "classic" thin client family. Wyse claims the 3150SE is the industry's first thin client terminal to run Windows CE 5.0, and says that the device offers improved performance and enhanced features in comparison to existing Wyse thin client products.
Wyse says that its enhanced Windows CE 5.0 operating system enables the 3150SE to boot in seconds, allows it to switch between a PC-like desktop-with-task-bar and the standard Simplified Connection Manager GUI, provides enhanced local security, and supports more peripherals and add-ons than any other Windows CE based thin client.
The AMD Geode GX processor used in the 3150SE includes a high-speed, integrated graphics controller that meets stringent European resolution and clinical health care requirements, while delivering 1600x1200 pixel resolution, according to Wyse.
The device is said to support Citrix RDP 5.5 and ICA 8.0 protocols, with over 15 resident terminal emulations, allowing it to provide connectivity to almost any backend system and providing the flexibility to choose an optimal protocol. As with other Wyse Winterm thin clients, the 3150SE is bundled with Wyse Rapport (Workgroup edition), a client management tool that supports remote management, upgrades, and includes an administrator's console for device configuration.
