        Device profile: Psion Teklogix model 7535 rugged handheld

        The Psion Teklogix model 7535 is a Windows CE .NET based "rugged hand-held computer" intended for mobile data collection in harsh environments. The device is powered by an Intel XScale processor and is said to meet stringent dust and water protection, shock and vibration, and drop-test levels.




        Various wireless, scanning, keyboard, and display options can be added to the device to outfit it for specific purposes. For example, when equipped with a radio and integrated scanner, the 7535 can be used for automatic data capture, according to the company.

        "The 7535 runs on the Windows CE .NET operating system, addressing the growing popularity of this operating system in the automatic identification and data collection market," noted Psion Teklogix director of product management Dan Schachtler.

        "Windows CE .NET provides ease of integration with enterprise infrastructures as well as the ability to run sophisticated end-user applications," Schachtler added.         Schachtler said the 7535 supports industry standards such as 802.11, RFID, Bluetooth, and GSM/GPRS, which ensure that it can be easily integrated into a wide variety of mobile computing projects on an ongoing basis.
