Windows tablet's designed to be a thin client for doctors
Barco announced a 12.1-inch tablet designed as a portable thin client for medical applications. The ProScribe MTPP-0212 runs Windows Embedded Standard on a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of flash storage, includes a resistive touchscreen with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, and survives one-meter drops onto concrete, the company says."

Eight thin clients get Windows Embedded upgrade, RemoteFX tech
VXL announced an extensive lineup of thin clients featuring Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Microsoft's RemoteFX technology. Desktop devices include the TC1527, C24 and C24s, D24s, E24s, and TC6324, while Lenovo co-branded notebooks include the 11.6" TL120-24 and 14.1" TL412-24, according to the company."

HP thin client upgrades with RemoteFX technology
HP announced a thin client that now allows remote access to rich media and 3D applications, thanks to an upgrade to Microsoft's Windows Embedded Standard 7, Service Pack 1. The t5740e is a compact desktop device with an Intel Atom N280 processor, 2GB of RAM and 4GB of flash storage, eight USB 2.0 ports, and support for dual monitors, according to the company."

Portable thin client has dual-core AMD G-Series processor
Wyse introduced a mobile thin client using AMD's dual-core G-Series T56N processor, with integral Radeon HD6310 graphics. The X90m7 offers a 14-inch display with 1366 x 768 pixels, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networking, 2GB of RAM and 4GB of flash storage, plus a "2G/4G capable" ExpressCard slot and optional smart card reader, the company says."

All-in-one thin clients sport 18-inch screens
Computer Lab International (CLI) announced two all-in-one thin clients that run Windows Embedded Standard on a dual-core Intel Atom D525 processor. The CLI IA2103 and CLI IA1903 both have 18.5-inch screens with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, from 1GB to 16GB of flash storage, four USB 2.0 ports, and VGA outputs, and the IA2103 adds resistive touch capabilities, according to the company."

Thin clients are Dell's smallest yet
Dell announced two fanless thin clients claimed to be the smallest OptiPlex systems yet. The Dell OptiPlex FX170 and OptiPlex FX130 thin clients offer a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 and Via Eden ULV processor respectively, and include 1GB of RAM, 1GB or 2GB of flash, a gigabit Ethernet port, four USB 2.0 ports, and a DVI-I port with optional dual display support, says the company."

HP added to its range of thin clients with a mobile device running Windows Embedded Standard 7 or Windows Embedded Standard 2009. The 6360t includes a 13.3-inch display, 1.6GHz Celeron P810 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, 2GB to 8GB of flash storage, SD and ExpressCard/54 slots, and an optional DVD-ROM drive, the company says."

'Fastest-ever' thin client gets PCI Express slot
Wyse has added a PCI Express expansion slot to a thin client it touts as the "world's most powerful." The Z90DE7 runs Windows Embedded Standard 7 on an AMD single-core T52R clocked at 1.5GHz or dual-core T56N clocked at 1.6GHz; meanwhile, Wyse also announced a Linux-powered R10L client it says is the first such device to support Microsoft's RemoteFX (Remote Desktop Protocol 7.0)."
