Devon IT announced a thin client that runs Windows Embedded Standard 7 on a 1.3GHz Via Eden processor. The TC5V includes 2GB of RAM, 4GB of flash, gigabit Ethernet, and dual display support via DVI-D and DVI-I connectors, according to the company."

Igel announced that its UD5 thin client now comes with a 1.3GHz Via Nano processor, DDR3 memory, and the VX900 chipset. Now 40 percent faster than before, the device also has lower power consumption and is newly offered with the Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating system, the company says."

'Fastest-ever' thin clients ship with dual-core AMD processors
Wyse announced that its "fastest thin clients ever" are now shipping and added two new Linux versions. All are powered by AMD's single-core T52R clocked at 1.5GHz or dual-core T56N clocked at 1.6GHz, but the Z90D7 and Z90DW run Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Windows Embedded Standard 2009, respectively, while the Z50S and Z50D run SUSE Linux Enterprise, according to the company."

NEC announced two Windows-based thin clients that feature 1GHz Via C7 processors. The Windows CE 6.0-based US110c has 128MB of RAM and 512MB of flash, while the Windows Embedded Standard 2009-based US300c includes 1GB of RAM and 2GB of flash, according to the company."

HP's thin clients use 64-bit Via processors
[Updated, Jan. 5] -- HP announced a pair of Windows-based thin clients using Via's 1GHz Nano U3500 CPU and VX900 core logic chip. The t5550 and t5570 come with 1GB of RAM and 1GB or 2GB of flash storage, include parallel and serial ports, offer six USB 2.0 ports, and support both serial and parallel monitors, according to the company."

"Project Pyramid" automatically sets up or updates devices when they're first switched on, and will be available first on the Windows Embedded Standard 7-based Z90, the company says."
