XP EMBEDDED TO POWER PHANTOM GAME SYSTEM
Infinium Labs announced that it has licensed Microsoft's Windows XP
Embedded for use as the basis of an operating system for its
next-generation "Phantom" game system. The licensing agreement will
enable Infinium Labs to embed the specific Windows XP features it
needs for a customized, reduced-footprint PhantomOS for the Phantom
Game System and PhantomNet VPGN (Virtual Private Game Network).

SECURITY-MINDED GSM MOBILE PHONE RUNS POCKET PC 2002
Worried about people listening in on your cell phone calls? According
to GSMK (Berlin, Germany), you no longer need to worry, provided you
and whoever you talking to are using a pair of the company's new
CryptoPhone GSM mobile phones. The company claims to have created
secure cell phone transmissions on a Pocket PC based GSM mobile phone
using a 4096-bit Diffie-Hellman key exchange with SHA256 hash function.

CE-POWERED TERMINALS DETECT INDUSTRIAL HEAT AND LEAKS
Tyco Thermal Controls has selected Windows CE to power a new family of
intelligent control and monitoring terminals for industrial heat and
leak detection applications. The networked touch-screen terminals
incorporate embedded products and technology being supplied by
Intrinsyc Software, and are based on Intrinsyc's CerfPod 255SE
reference platform.

ADDING MULTI-LANGUAGE SUPPORT IN AN XP EMBEDDED OS IMAGE
Windows XP Embedded includes support for multiple languages through
the use of Multilingual User Interface (MUI) packs. This support is
intended to enable developers to easily localize devices for multiple
locales simply by adding MUI support to the run-time system image.

instructions on how to use Windows XP Embedded's MUI packs, including
the components to add, the settings to adjust, and how to switch
languages from within the Windows XP Embedded user interface.

WINDOWS XP EMBEDDED, NT EMBEDDED SECURITY OVERVIEW
Microsoft recommends that Windows XP Embedded customers become part of
the Windows XP Professional patch release process, since Windows XP
Embedded is based on the same feature binaries as Windows XP
Professional. Depending on the specification situation, Microsoft
suggests contacting Windows XP Embedded based device manufacturers or
integrators to understand which components are included in the
device's operating system image. This information can help ensure
proper servicing of Windows XP Embedded based devices.
