NEWS FLASH:  WINDOWS MOBILE SMARTPHONE ARRIVES IN N. AMERICA
AT&T Wireless announced nationwide availability of the Motorola MPx200,
the first Windows Mobile based smartphone to become available in the
North American market. The MPx200 is being sold for $299.99 along with
designated AT&T Wireless service plans.

NEWS FLASH:  MICROSOFT OPENS UP DESKTOP/SERVER WINDOWS SOURCE TO MVPS
Microsoft launched an added program today in its Shared Source
Initiative, aimed at the company's "MVPs" (Most Valuable Professionals).
Microsoft MVPs are individuals recognized by Microsoft for their
expertise in one or more Microsoft products and technologies and their
helpfulness in the online and offline Microsoft community. The new
shared source licensing program, known as the Most Valuable Professional
Source Licensing Program (MVPSLP), makes additional source code
available to MVPs -- including Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows
Server 2003 source -- in order to enable them to better assist online
and offline technical communities.

INTRINSYC UNVEILS TELEPHONY SOFTWARE FOR WIRELESS HANDHELDS
Intrinsyc Software announced telephony software that can be embedded in
wireless devices based on Microsoft's Windows CE .NET and Windows Mobile
software for Pocket PC OSes. Intrinsyc says its "MicroPhone" telephony
software offers a highly portable, customizable solution that allows
OEMs to create devices with custom telephony functions and provide
integrated voice and data capabilities with superior usability.

RUSSIAN STUDENT PORTS GCC C/C++ COMPILER TO WINDOWS CE
Earlier this year, Vitaliy Pronkin, a young Russian programmer, launched
a project to port the open source GCC C/C++ compiler and supporting
tools (library, manager, linker, etc.) to Windows CE and the Pocket PC
platform. The result, according to Pronkin, is that it is now possible
to develop applications directly on a Pocket PC PDA using the standard
C/C++ programming language. Specifically, source code written in eVC
(MFC isn't supported yet) can be built and then executed directly on the
Pocket PC (or other Windows CE device) without conversion or additional

VXL Instruments Ltd. says its Itona TC is the industry's first high
performance thin client to achieve the "breakthrough" price point of
$200. The device is based on an 800MHz VIA C3 processor running Windows
CE .NET 4.2.

Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphones using the .NET Compact Framework,

MOTOROLA REVEALS "REVOLUTIONARY" CELLPHONE-ON-MODULE TECHNOLOGY
Motorola's semiconductor division (Motorola Semiconductor Products
Sector, "SPS") has unveiled an approach to implementing multimedia
mobile devices that it calls "revolutionary." SPS says its new "Mobile
Extreme Convergence" (MXC) architecture will squeeze all the functions
required by high-performance mass-market mobile devices into a module
the size of a postage stamp -- a significant space reduction from
today's smallest approaches that are the size of a business card.
