IDVelocity has released a new version of its toolkit for building RFID- and barcode-based data collection applications on handheld and mobile devices running Windows CE. IDVelocity ADC version 5.0 has a number of enhancements to help users easily deploy traditional data collection and RFID-enabled applications, according to the company.
IDVelocity characterizes the ADC platform as a "truly technology-agnostic platform" that cross multiple technologies, including RFID, barcodes, sensors, PLC's, scales, Wi-Fi, cellular, and the Internet. It provides a single platform to design, integrate, and manage supply chain and mobile computing applications such as inventory management, asset tracking, shipping and receiving, event notification, inventory, and sales force automation.
The company lists the following enhancements in version 5.0 of ADC: - Graphical Process Modeling (GPM) -- Enables the development of business processes in a graphical environment that facilitates program definition by business analysts and other professionals with non-programming backgrounds.
- RFID Support -- Interfaces with RFID technologies from hardware vendors such as Alien, Symbol, Intermec, and SAMSys. Supports the main tag formats (SGTIN, SSCC, SGLN) and standards (Class 0, 0+ and 1) required by "industry driving" organizations such as Wal-Mart, DoD, Target, and Albertsons.
- Multiple Deployment Options -- SES (Script Execution Server), the runtime component of ADC, has been redesigned to promote portability. Auto-ID business processes, executed by SES, can be deployed in Windows, Windows Mobile, and Linux environments.
- ADC Server Manager -- New enhancements simplify the of administration of SES Sessions, Messages, Configuration and Database connections, and related functions in a single view and from a remote administration portal.
