RadiSys announced a COM Express module based on Intel's newly shipping Core 2 Duo T9400 and GM45 Express chipset. The Windows- and Linux-ready Procelerant CEGM45 targets portable, high-performance applications, and comes in Type 2 and Type 3 COM Express pin-out models, says the company.

The Procelerant CEGM45 targets applications that require fast processing and networking, large storage and memory capacity, and low power consumption, says Radisys. Examples are said to include medical and machine imaging, test and measurement, and communications devices.
The 3.7 x 4.9 inch (95 x 125mm) module is based on the 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo T9400 processor (code-named "Penryn") announced earlier this week. The T9400 supports 47 of Intel's 54 SSE4 SIMD (single instruction, multiple data) instruction enhancements, which are said to enhance the performance and power-efficiency of mobile multimedia, 3D, and gaming applications.
The T9400 also offers 6MB of second-level cache, and is paired with the new Mobile GM45 Express chipset, said to offer memory bus speeds in excess of 1GHz. The Radisys module supports up to 8GB DDR3 memory in dual 4GB channels. The CEGM45 is equipped with a MicroSD socket, four SATA ports, eight USB 2.0 ports, and single or dual gigabit Ethernet. RadiSys provides custom services including "carrier concept definition and design, carrier schematic reviews, BIOS customization, and thermal design," says the company.
